Phil McCarty

Dr Phil McCarty spent his working career in the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (as it then still was). He was awarded his PhD from the University of Wolverhampton in 2021, on aspects of the British Army in 1940. This followed an MA in War Studies from King’s College London in

He was awarded his PhD from the University of Wolverhampton in 2021, on aspects of the British Army in 1940. This followed an MA in War Studies from King’s College London in 1984 and a BA in Combined Studies (Military, American and Russian Studies) from the University of Manchester in 1983. Phil wore a variety of cap badges in the Territorial Army and is a member of the Councils of the Society for Army Historical Research and the Members’ Advisory Group of the National Army Museum.
